The IFCR international festival takes place every three years. Since 1997, there have been ten Festivals, the most recent being in Melbourne, Australia form 20 to 26 January 2019. The
British Rotarian team, which included a record six players from Scotland, joined around 180 Rotarian cricketers. Unsurprisingly, India and Australia contributed the largest numbers, but there
were teams or representation from Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Bangladesh and South Africa. There was an excellent programme for non-players, spouses, etc, who attended in large numbers. .
A full report will follow soon, but the world famous Melbourne Cricket Ground was a fantastic venue for the opening. There were nine matches each day, and for the first time mainly of mixed
nationalities "seeded" by ability, which made for competitive as well as enjoyable matches. Players' ages ranged from 30's to a few 80's, with both regular and occasional players. Much
more to follow.
Eleventh Festival will be a return to Sri Lanka, this time based in the beautuful hill resort of Kandy, in late July 2021. So, for new members, plenty of time to enquire and get involved in
IFCR GB before booking your place.
